I am a professor in the Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. My research investigates computational tools for converting data to knowledge and decisions:

• I develop new Bayesian models and inference algorithms to scalably solve a range of problems, especially ones in applied sciences.
• I investigate practical and principled approaches for differentially private data analysis, such as synthetic data generation and statistical inference.
• I use machine learning, AI, and statistics to solve problems in ecology and conservation, especially large-scale modeling of bird migration.

Previously, I had a joint appointment at Mount Holyoke College. Before that, I was a postdoc at Oregon State University, where I held a National Science Foundation postdoctoral fellowship in Bioinformatics. I received my Ph.D. in computer science from Cornell University.
