I am an assistant professor in the Manning College of Information & Computer Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a member of UMass NLP. My research bridges machine learning and natural language processing with humanistic scholarship. My work focuses on understanding what computational models actually learn and how we can intentionally change what they learn.

I completed my Ph.D. in Computer Science at Cornell University where I was advised by David Mimno. I received my B.S. from the University of Washington in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering.
