CS 529 is an advanced class on project management. Each student in CS 529 leads a team of CS 320 students toward a successful project completion. In addition to all the CS 320 lecture and discussion meeting times, CS 529 students also meet for discussion one day per week. The prerequisite to take CS 529 is an A- or better in CS 320 and instructor approval.
CS 320 uses the Moodle learning management system. The course website is on Moodle. Communication and posting of course material will be via Moodle.
Each CS 529 student will be a project manager for one or more development teams from CS 320- Introduction to Software Engineering. Project managers are present for all CS320 lecture and discussion meetings and are available to their teams throughout the semester.
The course is taught in a seminar style, where readings are assigned and discussed. Much time is given to processing the experience of managing the CS320 projects. Attendance is mandatory.
Students will be graded on their level of engagement with the team(s) they manage, as well as their ability to implement and response to feedback on good management practices.
