Bob,

something you may wish to try, although it interrupts the sim....

Pause the game, then hit alt-enter.  Minimize the window down to your
taskbar.  Then, just open up the minimized window again and keep flying.

When you switch from full screen to windowed mode, or minimize/maximize,
FS98 will save the flight under the heading "Program generated temporary
flight".  This is a temporary file that can be re-loaded, but is deleted
when you exit FS98.
