Awhile back someone was asked how the time of sim cars compared with
those of the real cars racing at Lime Rock (LR). Someone found the old
times from '97 and stated that the sim times were faster (by a few
seconds) the reason is that on the back strech where you make the right
hand and go up the small rise, there is a patch of concrete to the right
with cones along the main course. That patch of concrete is a chicane at
the real race course!! The real sports cars (GT) go through that chicane
because you may have notice that if you have good speed coming into that
corner when you reach the top of that small hill your revs will spike.
That is because your back end is lifts (slightly) off the ground. They
added this chicane because in the late 80's or early 90's a closed
cockpit GTP car came through there and had so much speed that it's nose
lifted in the air and the car got airborne! I think it filped over on
its top side. I saw a Trans-Am's race there and they did not use the
chicane. You could see and hear the back end of the TA cars lift off
the ground! The GT cars, WSC, and Barber Dodge (pro) cars all use the
chicane. Hopfully there is a LM fanatic out there that could share with
us the story of that GTP car that fliped!

Just think how difficult it would be if the demo had that chicane! Right
now I fly thru there in 4 gear with the M3 and if I hit it right I hear
the back end lift (the spike in rpm).

I apologize if this topic has already been dicussed.
