GPL is a whole different kettle of fish when compared to GP2, and I'm
a *BIG* fan of GP2. GPL takes you a whole new dimension. Prepare for a
shock, a very pleasant shock. GPL *is* the best sim IMHO, and
certainly one of the best in almost everyone elses opinion?

When I bought GPL and saw it running on my original pc, I (almost
immediately, like within about two weeks!) went out and built me a
*new* pc.

My *new* pc handles GPL great, eg: Celeron 300a clocked at 450 on an
Abit BX6 m/b in an ATX tower, with 128Mb pc100 ram, 17" Monitor and a
12Mb Voodoo2 card (Matrox G100 8Mb card as secondary card) with decent
sound card, speakers and sub woofer.

However, my original pc was not so great, and had a similar spec to
yours. Don't get me wrong, GPL should run on yours, but it will not
run anywhere near its full potential.......Time for that upgrade I
think?

The spec of my original pc was: Supermicro P5MMA m/b in an ATX tower,
with a K6 200 clocked at 225, with 64Mb sdram, 15" monitor with a 4Mb
Voodoo 1 3dfx card, and a Matrox 4mb Mystique as secondary card, and
normal pc speakers.

If I were you I would upgrade straight away. if you cannot, then do
some minor improvements to your existing pc as follows:

Try running that 233 at 225 instead, using the 75 Busspeed instead of
the 66 busspeed (3 x 75 = 225) as that speeds everything up, not just
your cpu.

Invest in some more ram, at least 64Mb (sdram is better than edo ram).

Try to optimise your pc set-up for games playing, get rid of all the
dross on your hard disc, run scandisk, then run defrag, tweak win9x to
use hardware acceleration, and specify a big permanent swapfile. tweak
the bios too is you can......

GPL will run, but you will have to turn off some graphics options, and
turn down graphics detail, and probably turn down the sound options,
as well as running in a lower resolution. And even then you will only
get fairly pedestrian frame rates? But........... and get this......

GPL will *still* be the best sim you ever bought, and you will really
want to upgrade your system, if not now, then soon, *REAL* soon......

8-)
