I will clarify then :)

Digital Controllers, with the exception of the 1 out of 100,000 that are
lucky enough to get a calibration, do NOT work with any DOS .EXE form of
Nascar Racing, whether it be N2 or N1999. If it's DOS, it don't work.

I do not know about Nascar 1, and I don't think too many care.

The _Windows_ version of N1999 _will_ work because it has a joystick
driver option based on DirectX (DirectInput).

It is not just because N2 is DOS based that these controllers don't
work. It is also because the Joystick drivers in this game is highly
tuned for on-line racing and certain considerations had to be taken to
combat latency problems.
