Sounds pretty realistic to me? You can actually wheelspin away from a 
spin like this, simply engage the clutch, (with the car in first gear) 
up the revs, and disengage the clutch, and voila, loadsa wheelspin?

You can't normally just floor it when the car si idling in first gear, 
(unless the revs are high?) or else you would risk stalling.
