Probably, but that's nothing to be upset over... All pilots get flight reviews
every two years or less. Lots of us get IPC (instrument proficiency checks)
every six months, whether we legally need them or not. Just a good chance to
go up with an instructor and brush off any bad habits we may have picked up.
Besides, in the real world - even if we fly a lot, we virtually NEVER get any
*practice* at abnormal situations (partial panel, airframe control
malfunctions, etc.). While this is a GOOD thing <G> it is *fun* to go up with
an instructor from time to time and relearn old training that we haven't used
in a while.

As for your more *general* problem -- yep, that's a LONG time all right. If
the timeframe is really bothering you that much, have you considered just
taking some time off (a 2 week vacation, maybe) and doing NOTHING in your life
those two weeks but finish up? Some schools can take a typical student from
first flight to PP-ASEL in two weeks, you already have a big leg up on that.
[It's a LOT of work, eating and breathing nothing but flying for that time,
but it can be done.]
