Interesting.

Why do you do it in gallons? Do you perceive a
benefit from that? It seems to me that whether
you use time or gallons as your units you are
working with the same information and have the
same level of accuracy.

Planning purely in miles, of course, is foolhardy.

I like to think in terms of time, but I'm fairly
religious about getting up to cruise and then
setting the plane for a good book setting and
using whatever means possible to verify it.
Certainly no better than your method.
