I'm a new student (2.1 hrs) and I'm sure that I'm just noticing it more
now that I'm flying, but it seems that planes are just falling out of
the sky lately around here (3 in 3 weeks in the Boston area).
The latest was a Piper Arrow which crashed yesterday or the day before.
Before it went down the pilot declared a loss of power, the news didn't
specify if it was engine power or electrical power.
My question is, how common is this? Is an emergency landing something
that everyone prepares for, but very few actually have to perform? or
do most pilots have at least one?

Just want to be prepared,
Thanks
