Since the safety pilot is performing no maneuvers except
watching for traffic (to which they should be accustomed),
the speed at which the pilot is used to flying is irrelevant.

I agree wholeheartedly: You conduct it your way. It's your
assessment of safety that matters for your flight, not mine.

Me, I only fly light singles. So it's not even an issue --
you can't get much lower on the rating pole and still fly
an airplane. :-)

If it makes sense, then yes, I want all pilots to be
able to legally do it. I don't write the rules, and I
don't consider this a significant one worthy of pursuit
of changing, though
