Sounds to me like it was too cold for your instructor to get out of bed. Certainly
the first couple of minutes in a cold airplane is uncomfortable but it does warm up
and it will fly even better in the cold. However an engine preheat may be required
which also cost extra. Other than that, if you really want to fly in MN you and
your FBO better get used to the cold.
