Interesting point, Roy.  Probably one reason behind the focus
on Vno emergency descent in the high performance planes mentioned
by John.  They are undoubtedly proceedures written with IMC in mind.

I don't think I'd hesitate to slip in IMC, if I was faced
with a need to get down and land, NOW.  All the more so if I
knew there wasn't going to be a lot of time between dropping
under the clouds and looking for the best place to put the 
plane--why make those decisions at higher speed?

Care to share your reasons?
