It took me about 3 months to get my permanent certificate.  I finally decided to
call the FAA to inquire about it, but after being put in a terminal holding
pattern on the phone, I hung up.  Of course, the certificate showed up in the
mail the next day!  I would recommend contacting your designated examiner to see
what can be done.
