The rocker switch EVERY TIME. The landing light does NOT have to cause a
drop, since even at idle, the engine can cause the alternator to produce
more electricity than the landing light (if it's working) can burn.
Check out the electrical system info in the POH. And maybe point out
those checklists in Section 3 of the same POH. HOW do you check the
ammeter for discharge? The only way to be *certain* is to turn off the
alternator.
