Yes, life-critical; we're counting on that flight plan to be in
the system and be activated at the proper time so that SAR will
be initiated.

But not to worry, if FSS isn't critical app enough for ya, a recent
mag (aopa or flying) had an article on testing the new generation
collision avoidance system, which is to replace transponders and
radar.  It broadcasts each plane's GPS-determined position to
ground stations (for ATC) and to other planes.

It was based on....Windows NT.
