Hmmmm. I'm not sure what the landing light is supposed to do,
but it seems to me a common problem with day landings is at
first the pilot doesn't look far enough down the runway (either
at the end, or as far ahead of the plane to the side as they
would while highway driving, as works best for different people).

The landing lights I've seen seem to light up an area too close
to the plane, so the tendency is to be looking there and not
at the proper distance down the runway. I was taught to land
first without the landing light, then with it on the CFI I was
with harped on me to be looking at the end of the runway on
every landing. Worked for me.

I guess I would say, if the runway has lights and if night landings
are a struggle, try turning it off from the start and see how it goes.
