Just to clarify, I did NOT mention Mr. Regish by name in the post from
which he quotes the excerpt above. I did NOT intend the post to be
referring to Mr. Regish specifically or in particular. In fact, I
explicitly used the words "number of posts recently", indicating (I
thought quite plainly) my intent to raise a general issue. I could
just as well have used the words "number of posts continuously over the
time I've been reading this group and probably before".

I intended to raise a general point which I think deserves
consideration: if money is short, and the hours to get a PPL
are a major concern, how is proficiency to be maintained after
the PPL? One CFI responded that (I paraphrase, I hope I don't
misrepresent) in his experience for young people that wasn't
a problem, he could not fly for 3 months and be just as good.
OK, I'm glad to hear that. Maybe I'm an exception, and John's
an exception, and proficiency isn't as big an issue for other
people as it is for me. Cool.

My post was not about you, you, you, you, you. Neither, so far as I
can tell, did either I or John Stricker attribute the direct
quote "I expect to get done in XX hours" to you.

However, since you ask, I will show you one of the things you've
written that I interpret as a concern for "overspending the
budget" and getting the PPL in a specific amount of time:

"My concern is mainly financial and if this guy is deternmined to
make ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
me go 20 hours or more to solo because everybody else goes 20 hours or
more and to make me go 60 hours or more because everybody else goes 60
hours or more, I can't afford it. I have so much budgeted for this
               ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

If you say NOW that you're really not concerned with how long
you take to get your PPL, I believe you, but I think it would be
nice if you took a little responsibility for how you are interpreted
instead of ranting and accusing others of putting you in "an
absolutely wrong light". Because the above sure looks like
a pretty clear expression of the viewpoint I was (generally) discussing
...concern about overspending the budget if one doesn't get the
PPL in a given amount of time.

I don't know why I do this, though, I don't expect it to produce
anything but another outburst of indignation and self-justification.

The rest of the stuff quoted by Mike was written by John, not me,
so I'll let John address it.

I'm sorry to hear about your self-inflicted physical injury; hope
it doesn't interfere with your flying. As for the parachutes, I
suggest you look next to the "Shoulder Chip Remover" section in
the "Self Improvement" aisle of your local discount store.

Good luck with your flying goals.
