Here ya go. Hope you don't mind a bit of oil and naptha.

Around here, (whether or not you agree) the going rate for
flight instruction is about $17-19/hr. I've paid as little
as $15 (for the services of a 7000 hr former jet captain who
teaches for fun) and as much as $25 (for aerobatic instruction).
My current CFII has >11,000 hrs and charges me $19/hr for flight
time or ground time other than pre/postflight briefings. I pay
him $20/hr and keep trying to buy him lunch. He's a nice guy
and a whizz for spotting traffic and picking up ATC mistakes (which
makes him a comfort in the right seat when I'm under the hood) but
frankly he's not as good of a teacher as the young, low time (1400
hr) CFII I started with.

I'd gladly pay $35/hr *or more* for an instructor I regarded as a
top-notch, skilled pilot able to communicate his skills to me
clearly and effectively and pick out what I'm doing which leads
to a mistake, but I sure wouldn't keep paying it for an instructor
whose behavior I second guessed and questioned at every turn.

If Mr. Regish is indeed paying $35 for flight instruction he
second guesses, I don't get it.
