I would have no problem with paying for the time that the instructor is actually spending with me be it
ground or flying.  Once the focus is off me the instructor is then on his own time.

Foremost in my mind would be:
1.  Do I learn from this instructor?
2.  Is his per-session bill reasonable/affordable? (Forget ground/flight vs flight only)
3.  Happily pay for quality instruction.

Also,  I would consider the travel time to the airport.  You had a 3 hour round trip for the previous
instructor and I would be more willing to pay a little more to avoid this.  It's a lot nicer to take a
lesson when your not already stressed out.  In essence you are paying him for not having to travel.
What is this worth to you?  If it isn't worth the extra money go back to one of the first two
instructors.  Otherwise get over it and enjoy the flying.
