What is the 0.25 caliber pistol for?

Not related to HL's post but just my $0.02 on the Survival
Gear topic:

The most important survival item is between the pilot's ears. For
a very *different* perspective on 'Survival', I recommend that
everyone who flies over remote areas read Tom Brown's books (and
if possible do one of the courses, I haven't but I'd sure love to).
Start with "The Tracker" so you know where he's coming from, then
read the guides. I know it changed my ideas and what I can do, also.

A lot of waterproof matches don't quite work as advertised (including
wax-dipped strike anywears IME. Your milage may vary; it isn't my
opinion but the bearer's ability to actually start a fire with the
match in nasty conditions which counts).

There used to be a CFI where I flew who gave me all kinds of grief
about my flight bag. Good thing he never found the pry bar. "It's
for using on smart-ass CFIs *what do you think!?*"

Snow"fly Pipers, carry a sharp pry bar"bird
