Unfortunately, the statistics don't bear you out :-(

Being indecicisive and timid can also kill you, but less often.  The
trick is to strike a happy medium.

One other thought occured to me.  Do you realise that you are, at this
very moment, an instructor?

Many, many people read this newsgroup.  They take what they read here,
digest it, and then take action or not.

Some may be unhappy with the restrictions their instructors have placed
on them and then, perhaps, use you as a role model.

Since we don't know these students, as we don't know you, it seems the
prudent course of action to encourage them to speak with their
instructors about getting the limitations removed rather than
encouraging them, by example, to take their training into their own
hands.

If you don't like what your instructor is doing, talk to him or her
about it or get a new instructor.  Otherwise trust their judgement.
That's what you hired them for.
