This is exaggerated to the point of absurdity.

While I'm sure there are some out-of-control airports,
there are hundreds of non-towered airports where thousands
of flight operations from NORDO taildraggers to Pt 135
coexist quite safely.

A closer look at those stats for midair collisions will reveal
that towered airports have their share.

IME people who go around assuming everyone else is an absolute
jerk who is deliberately trying to do them tend to react in an
aggressively defensive manner which is dangerous in and of itself.

The rest of the assumptions are good to make around any airport-
towered or non-towered. Not all towered airports have radar,
and even when they do controllers are human and pilots misunderstand
or don't follow directions.
