I had some solo time last Friday. It was the first time in 2 weeks that
I was able to fly, due to weather, scheduling (the plane), and a cold.

It suprized me how good I did after laying off for two weeks.

I also had some time scheduled yesterday (Sunday), but cancelled. My
question for the group is if my reasoning for canceling is correct.

When I called the airport they said that it would probably be ok for
pattern work, but....

The ASOS at MNN (I fly at 4I9, about 12 miles away from MNN)
said that the ceiling was overcast at 1800 ft.

4I9 is a "satellite airport in a class D area", so the clearance
and visibility requirements are 500 ft below clouds and 3 miles
	visibility.

With wind from the east I would have to fly the downwind over
"structures", so I would have to stay at least 500 AGL.

Field elevation is 1085 ft, so the minimum ceiling would have
	to be 2085 ft.

Does an ASOS report ceilings as AGL or MSL? If AGL then I could have
flown yesterday. If MSL then there would be no legal way.
