Suggestions depend upon what you consider interesting, of course.

If you'd like to fly in to a nice resort, consider Lake of the
Ozarks (AIZ). About 230 miles from you. Tan-tar-a resort will come
pick people up at the airport; excellent restaurant with a nice Sunday
breakfast buffet, sailing, swimming, golf, tennis etc. Just a little
further (330 miles) but in the same vein would be Kentucky Dam State
Park (M34) -- again, Lodge will pick people up at the airport, golf
swimming etc. Gaston's Resort (3M0) in N. Arkansas is reputed to have
some mighty fine Trout Fishing (again about 330 miles) and the airport
is right there if you don't mind grass.

If a bigger city is what you have in mind, Chicago, St. Louis and
Kansas City are all within 200 miles or so. Meigs of course is
right on the Chicago waterfront and if you don't mind walking,
within walking distance of much of downtown. The closest airport
to downtown St. Louis is CPS (Downtown-Parks) but it's a car
rental situation.

It all sort of depends upon what you consider interesting!
