Ok...  Here's the deal...  You have cars with light rear ends and RWD.  
No matter how good your snow tires are, that doesn't change the fact that 
the weight is not on the drive tires.  Now, with a FWD car a lot of the 
weight is on the drive tires.  This gives you traction.  Perhaps in 
Canada they have a better snow removal system than in the states...

Let's not get into a holy war about the benefits of FWD vs the benefits 
of RWD.  Just face the fact that FWD cars will handle better than RWD in 
the winter.
