I am a sixth year Ph.D. candidate at UMass Amherst. My research concerns the design of efficient planning algorithms for large-scale probabilistic domains. Many practical planning problems in these areas are intractable, even under full observability assumptions, thus efficient planning requires the combination of several different ideas such as heuristic search, sampling, anytime algorithms and online planning, among others. My current research focuses on decision theoretic planning using Markov Decision Processes. I am working on developing continual planning algorithms that carefully ignore some of the uncertainty in the domain, so that computation time is reduced but plans are still close to optimal.
