From: "L. McCarthy"Date: Mon, 1 May 1995 10:09:08 -0500 (EDT) Good morning. Coffee, donuts, bagels, and cream cheese are being served in the department lounge now. *** Due to my preoccupation with reactions to the bomb in Oklahoma last week, I neglected to mention the following (thanks to Cris Pedregal for the text). We have a *real* table for our seminar receptions now: Some of you may have noticed the massive new "cookies" table outside the main office of the department. It used to be in 305, and graduate students there offered to make it available for everyone's enjoyment out of the selfish hope that it would take more cookies to cover it properly. Thanks are due to those students for the Herculean task of moving the table down to where it is now, and thanks also to those who gave up claims to the table so it would remain for the common enjoyment of the department. But especially, thanks to Jody Daniels, Michelle LaMar, and Dan Neiman for their patient work of re-finishing the table over several evenings. Let's all take care of it so everyone can enjoy it for years to come. *** Graduate students should be aware that general elections for GSS officers begin tomorrow night at the GSS meeting (7:15 in the CC), and continue on Wednesday and Thursday 10:00 - 6:00 just outside the Graduate Lounge in the CC. Actually, you shouldn't just be aware, you should vote ! I'll be posting an article to cmpsci.grads shortly discussing my endorsements in the election (speaking from 2 years experience in the Senate). At least one of the candidates might be dropping by for coffee this morning... -4M, in the flesh, so to speak
