CMPSCI 601: Theory of Computation

This is the index page for homework assignments for CMPSCI 601, Spring 2010. There will be eight assignments over the term, with the best six each being counted for 6% of the final grade, the seventh best being counted for 4%, and the worst not being counted at all. The homework component thus totals 40%.

Written solutions are expected to be your own in presentation. Help from written sources is allowed, but you must document any source of help in your writeup. Failure to follow this policy, for example by submitting material from the web without acknowledgement, is a serious violation of academic honesty standards and could result in failure for the course even on a first offense.

Solutions to the homework will be distributed on paper, since the problems are nearly all from a to-be-standard textbook and I don't want to contribute to a solutions library on the web. Ideally they will be given out in class on the day the assignment is due.

• Assignment 5, posted Thursday 11 March 2010, due in class Monday 29 March 2010.
• Assignment 6, posted Monday 29 March 2010, due in class Monday 12 April 2010.
• Assignment 7, posted Tuesday 13 April 2010, due to the CMPSCI main office by 4:00 p.m. Friday 23 April 2010.
