# Homework Assignment #1

#### Posted Tuesday 5 February 2008

#### Due on paper in class, Friday 15 February 2008

There are fifteen questions for 100 total points plus 10 extra
credit. All are from
the textbook, *Introduction to the Theory of Computation*
by Michael Sipser (second edition).
Numbers in parentheses following each problem
are its individual point value.

Students are responsible for understanding and following
the academic honesty
policies indicated on this page.

Note (12 February):
Problem 1.7 below was originally posted as it now is below, as parts b and
c only for 5 points. Between 9 and 12 February it was posted as parts b, c,
e and h for 10 points. If you did the extra parts, I'll give you up to 5
points extra credit. Thanks to the student who helped me clarify this.
