Question 1.1, 20 February In Problem 7.6.4 (d), where the player draws four cards to an ace, what may I assume about the four cards she threw away?
You may assume that they are four different ranks and that none of them are aces, so that she did not throw away a pair. This makes some of your counting problems a bit complicated, because the deck from which the new cards come does not have equal numbers of each suit. It may help to look at the case where the four cards she discarded were a ten, jack, queen, and king, then see whether the probability is different for any other case.
