There are six questions for 50 total points plus 10 extra
credit. All are from
the textbook,
Mathematical Foundation for Computer Science. Note that the book has
both Exercises and Problems -- make sure you are doing a Problem and not the
Exercise with the same number. The number in parentheses following each problem
is its individual point value.
Students are responsible for understanding and following

- Problem 10.1.1 (5) Draw an event tree.
- Problem 6.1.1 (5)
- Problem 6.1.2 (10) This calls for an induction proof, a concept you
may or may not have seen before. We'll do some in class and there are examples
in the text.
- Problem 6.1.5 (15) Do parts (a), (b), and (c) only.
- Problem 6.2.2 (10)
- Problem 6.2.3 (5+10) Parts (a) and (b) are required, (c) and (d) are
extra credit.
