Professor Hanna Wallach (Computer Science, UMass Amherst) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for an new exciting project at the intersection of machine learning and computational social science. The project involves developing new statistical methods for characterizing and predicting scientific and technological emergence. The ideal candidate must be proficient in a subset of the following: * Bayesian statistics * topic modeling * social network analysis * analyzing massive text corpora * scientometrics * information visualization He or she will be an active participant in Hanna Wallach's research group, collaborating not only with her and her graduate students, but also Andrew McCallum, David Jensen, Ben Marlin, and other faculty. This is a one year (renewable) position. A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, or related fields is required.
