[CV in pdf]
I'm currently a third year PhD student supervised by Professor W. Bruce Croft at Center for Intelligent Information Retrieval (CIIR), Department of Computer Science, University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Research Interests
I'm interested in examining the possibility of using alternative sources of data that resemble the structure of query logs to simulate them. Anchor text and bookmark data are two examples of such sources. So far I've been looking only at anchor text.
I'm also interested in problems related to query reformulation. In particular, I'm curious to know if we can develop a unified framework that can decide not only whether or not to reformulate a particular query but also what types of reformulation it should perform on this one.
Another research interest of mine is to apply machine learning algorithms to facilitate retrieval, especially to query reformulation.
