- I was an intern at IBM Almaden Research lab, San Jose, CA from June 2010-September 2010. At IBM research, I contributed to the Rx project that deals with solving management issues in the entire end-to-end software stack comprising of the storage layer, the hypervisor layer and the servers running inside virtual machines. The backup/restore operations available in various technologies like IBM storage controllers, IBM DB2, IBM GPFS and VMWare ESX servers were explored. I also used various I/O workload generators like IOZone and IOMeter.
- I interned at Tata Research Development and Design Centre (TRDDC), Pune, India from June 2009-August 2009. This internship dealt with the problem of predicting the effects of anticipated workload changes on large-scale systems. I implemented a tool using Python and R, that takes monitoring logs from applications and answers what-if queries by automatically generating models to capture workload-change effects. Monitoring-data collected from two large-scale financial applications running on data centers was analyzed using this tool and interesting what-if exploration was performed.
- I was working from September 2006-August 2007 as a Technical Staff Member at IBM India Research Lab (IRL), New Delhi, India. At IRL i was working on the project which involved the analysis of massive telecom graphs. I was part of the efforts to study the evolution of these graphs, finding out interesting structures in these graphs, and the effect of the graph structures on churn.
- I was working from July 2005-September 2006 as a Member Technical Staff at Oracle Development Centre, Bangalore, India. At Oracle i was working in the team responsible for building the next Oracle Instant Messenger. I was responsible for building a java library to parse and process XMPP messages. XMPP is a messaging standard standardised in rfc3920 and rfc3921 .
